Based on the single 1,000 round case I bought compared to 1,000 round cases of Tula, Wolf (two types), Silver Bear and another darn brand I can't seem to remember right now - both of us shooting that ammo thought Red Army was the worst. 1 brand new cartridges right out of the case had rust on the steel cases.

As for SD ammo, thanks for the suggestions, but I'm going to be going with 147gr HST based on all the ballistics tests I've read/watched on all the popular SD rounds.

Jan 11, 2014 · The receiver cover markings are definitely Russian Tula Arsenal markings. My 1954 Russkie has the same one. The stock marking is a Chinese Factory 21 triangle marking. Very common on military-issue Chinese SKSs from that factory. I have a 1963 Chinese Military SKS that has Factory 26 markings.
