Nov 28, 2024 · I concur that “Skies” (be they Dark, Clear, Cloudy, etc.) can be more accurate for both long duration viewing or multiple viewing instances because weather changes over the time frame of doing astronomy. So the plural indicates a lasting situation.

Nov 4, 2024 · Mars (0.0 to -0.5) in Cancer rises about 11PM EST but is best viewed in the southwest in predawn skies when Jupiter and Uranus are in western skies. On the 3rd, the waxing crescent Moon passes Mercury which is low in the southwest in the 1st half of the month and reaches greatest eastern elongation (23° from the Sun) on the 16th.

Oct 7, 2024 · Comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS) is a 7th magnitude comet which is close to the Sun in predawn skies on the 1st. By the middle of October it will appear in evening skies in Serpens Caput. It will move into and through Ophiuchus during October and is expected to be visible to the naked eye if it doesn’t break apart.

Aug 1, 2024 · Early morning skies display Jupiter (-2.09 to -2.1), Uranus (5.8 to 5.7), and Mars (0.9 to 0.7) in Taurus in the eastern sky before sunrise. Mars and Jupiter are less than one half of a degree apart on the 14th.
