The grape harvest in Tuscany, affectionately known as “La Vendemmia,” is an ancient tradition carrying immense cultural and economic significance. Vineyards bustle with activity as dozens of hands tirelessly hand-pick the grape clusters, heavy with newly ripened fruit.

Among the terraced vineyards that climb the mountains, you can participate in the harvesting of the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes, the basis for the production of Trentino's prized bubbles. It is also a time of celebration and sharing where you can savour typical local products.

Nothing is sadder for a farmer than to watch his grapes spoil on the vine, and though some wines call for grapes that have aged (on or off the vine) to produce the prized vinsanto, the major part of the harvest is destined for a table wine to be shared among friends.

On the occasion of the harvest, the Bertelegni cellars on the hills of Rocca Susella in the hamlet of Graminara, were organized two evenings among the rows of vineyards to taste the typical local dishes accompanied by selected wines.
