Castiel (/ ˌkæstiˈɛl /; nicknamed " Cas ") [1] is a fictional character portrayed by Misha Collins on The CW 's American fantasy television series Supernatural. An Angel of the Lord, he first appears in the fourth season and is used to introduce the theme of Christian theology to the series.

In 1901, Castiel possessed a female vessel and dressed as a woman from that era. Notably, he wore a coat very similar to the trench coat he wore in his first appearance. It is safe to say that, like most angels, Castiel does prefer to retain his vessel's original appearance and clothing.
