With head, heart and hand, the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Rochester are engaged in this world. Every day, we strive to teach, heal and effect change, whether it’s through education, advocacy, social work and health care, pastoral care, or with a warm meal and a friendly face.

The SSJ Rochester Archives, located at our Motherhouse, preserves material that documents the history of the Sisters of St. Joseph in Western NY, beginning with their arrival in Canandaigua in 1854.

In addition to being home to some of our own Sisters, our Motherhouse is also home to several of our retired brother priests. You are welcome to consider our Motherhouse as a place for group retreats, gatherings and meetings.

In 1650, these pioneering women, these founding Sisters of Saint Joseph, wanted to serve God and their neighbors by looking for the needs and meeting those needs as best they could. Their concept was embraced throughout Europe.

The Sisters of Saint Joseph of Rochester established a Sisters of Saint Joseph Ministry Foundation in 2003. Since that time the Foundation has received applications for and granted funds to support existing and new ministries affiliated with the Sisters of Saint Joseph.

The Sisters offer an array of services from Motherhouse retreats to unique gift selections.
