Reed Crandall: Reed Crandall was born in Winslow, Indiana on February 22, 1917. His career in art started at the age of four when he wowed his parents with some of his earliest drawings. In 1935 he recieved an art scholarship at the Cleveland School of Art in northeast Ohio.

Jan 22, 2025 · Reed Leonard Crandall was born February 22, 1917 in Winslow, Indiana. His grandfather, also named Reed Crandall (1856-1934), was a popular Judge and State Congressman of Kansas. His father, Rayburn Leonard Crandall, was born in 1890 in Kansas.

He contributed to James Warren's horror titles Eerie and Creepy, and did book illustration for the work of Edgar Rice Burroughs. Following a stroke in 1974, Crandall had to stop his drawing activities.

Reed Leonard Crandall (February 22, 1917 – September 13, 1982) [1] [2] was an American illustrator and penciller of comic books and magazines. He was best known for the 1940s Quality Comics' Blackhawk and for stories in EC Comics during the 1950s. Crandall was inducted into the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame in 2009.
