Mar 28, 2011 · During the 90s I was a bit out of the metal scene and although I had heard of Pantera I wasn't familiar with their music. When the reformed Black Sabbath decided to tour the states in 99, they chose Pantera to warm up. I saw the tour at the Chicago stop and thought Pantera were horrible.

Mar 28, 2011 · As for Pantera themselves - I saw them open for Metallica and AC/DC in 1991 in Moscow and they were horrible. It was my introduction to the band so I was really surprised when they became huge the very next year. I heard they made some decent music in the 80's so maybe I can dig their early albums.

Aug 28, 2024 · Ok, take a similar situation. Pantera reformed despite the Abbott brothers both being deceased (RIP), and those guys were the driving force of the band. People talked a lot about whether they should call it Pantera, but reviews have been great and they've been doing amazing business. The Beatles are about 100 x as big as Pantera.

Megadeth could only fill bigger places on their own for a short period of time. Priest and Maiden still fill bigger places on their own, and pantera did until the end. I think 1 or 2 albums makes up those Megadeth sales
