In the Star Wars universe it wouldn't be unheard of to have family from different planets. Or for family to move to different planets. Making Anakin from Tatooine and the Lars' also live on Tatooine their whole lives in the prequels compromised the point of Luke being hidden from Vader for nostalgia for the original movies.
