Twin earthquakes shocked California today, just four miles from San Bernardino, registering at about 3.5 on the Richter scale, as X quickly lit up with posts that said the quake felt like 'jolts that rattled nerves and frightened pets.

A magnitude 3.0 earthquake shook the San Bernardino area Monday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

A magnitude 3.5 earthquake was reported less than a mile from San Bernardino at 9:44 a.m. followed by a magnitude 3.0 earthquake four minutes later, the USGS reported.

The U.S. Geological Survey reported two earthquakes with preliminary magnitudes of 3.5 and 3.0 ​hit near the San Bernardino area Monday morning.
