It is believed that at least two of the six American hostages still held in Gaza are alive — Sagui Dekel-Chen, 35, who grew up in Bloomfield, Connecticut, and Edan Alexander, 19, from Tenafly, New Jersey. Four other Americans are believed to have been killed in captivity.
First American hostage released by Hamas from Gaza since 2023
Israeli American hostage Keith Siegel was released by Hamas in the latest hostage-prisoner exchange as part of January's ceasefire deal with Israel. NBC News' Keir Simmons reports on Siegel becoming the first American hostage to be released since his wife in 2023 and the condition of the other hostages.
