An 83-year-old retiree accused of shooting another person during a Pasadena Memorial High School event told authorities that someone was chasing him and that he feared for his life, according to police.

The incident happened Saturday, Feb. 1 at around 6 p.m. Pasadena police said the suspect, now identified as Dennis Erwin Brandl, Jr., 83, entered the school through a back entrance and fired at least one round from a handgun, injuring one man.
