Auschwitz survivors will be joined by world leaders on Monday to mark the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi German death camp by Soviet troops, in what will likely be one of the last such gatherings of those who experienced its horrors.

About 50 survivors are joining King Charles and world leaders for commemorations including a service and speeches.

A Holocaust survivor who lived through four concentration camps will return to Auschwitz to mark 80 years since liberation of the notorious Nazi camp.

But it will be the survivors - most in their late 80s and 90s - not the dignitaries, whose voices will be heard during the commemorations at the camp, where 1.1 million people were murdered, most of them Jews.

Auschwitz survivors are expected to attend the event marking the liberation of the Nazi German concentration and extermination camp.
