RALEIGH, N.C. -- Mikko Rantanen scored his first goal for the Carolina Hurricanes in a 3-2 win against the Chicago Blackhawks at Lenovo Center on Thursday.

Connor Bedard had a goal and an assist, and the Blackhawks beat the Colorado Avalanche 3-1 on Wednesday night. Frank Nazar and Ilya Mikheyev also scored for Chicago, which had lost six of seven.

The Blackhawks could expedite their painstaking rebuilding process and be significant players in free agency this summer.
