Both Lillard and Foley's characters seemed to die in 'Scream' and 'Scream 3' — so how are they back for 'Scream 7'?

Matthew Lillard and Scott Foley, who have played Ghostface in the Scream franchise, are returning for Scream 7.

Scott Foley is returning to the 'Scream' universe but it is as yet unknown if he will reprise the role of Roman Bridger who died in 'Scream 3.'

Matthew Lillard's confirmed return to the Scream franchise for the upcoming Scream 7 movie has fans extremely excited. His character, Stu Macher, is beloved by fans of the franchise due to his impact on the original movie as one of the Ghostfaces, but it's currently unknown how or why he will be part of Scream 7.

While fans like myself are thrilled to see Matthew Lillard and Scott Foley return to Scream, there are countless questions about how this will fit into the slasher franchise's timeline. There's been a long-standing debate about whether or not Stu actually died in the first movie,

Scott Foley , who appeared in Scream 3 , is returning to the franchise for director Kevin Williamson ’s Scream 7 . I assume he will reprise his role as Roman Bridger, who was the half-brother of Sidney Prescott and the Ghostface killer.

Matthew Lillard, who played Stu, has stayed within the franchise in one way or another. He has appeared and lent his voice to several of the films, but Stu hadn’t made a triumphant villainous return.
