The mid-Atlantic and Ohio Valley are preparing for an onslaught of snow and ice from a series of winter storms that are sweeping across the nation this week and into the weekend.

The FOX Forecast Center is tracking the development of several winter storms that are expected to sweep across the U.S. this week, putting tens of millions of people in about 40 states on alert for snow,

As expected, (and just like the groundhog promised!), winter is far from over on Delmarva. The coming week will feature what’s likely to be an accumulating snow event for much of the peninsula, followed up by another quick moving storm that may be more of a rain maker.

On Saturday afternoon, snow will move through the state from south to north, according to the National Weather Service. The snow will not accumulate more than an inch anywhere in Delaware and will give way to sleet and freezing rain throughout the evening. Eventually, it will change over to all rain.
