It sounds like you would be fine unless there is a lot of snow on ice I'm not sure when your plan is but at this point in time it should be just dirt.
I’m thinking of taking my family on the Katla Ice Cave tour, but on the website it says it is not suitable for people who are claustrophobic, afraid of heights and afraid of the dark. Just wondering…how small and dark the caves really are? Also, are the wooden bridges as sketchy as some have made them out to be? My husband and I would be visiting in July of 2024 with two 14 year olds and a 16 year old. Thank you in advance!

We did this last year and I don't remember anything dark or claustrophobic. I think the title of "cave" is really deceptive. I would refer to it more as a large tunnel that did not go very far at all, maybe 5 meters in length. As the tunnel is short, big and open, it is not dark at all. The wooden bridges are OK, not particularly high, very short and there is a rope along the wall to hold on to. The "bridges" (lets call them wooden planks with a railing) go over small crevices in the ice. I was really underwhelmed by the whole experience as I expected a cave. Our guide told us the "cave" had melted a lot and therefore didn't resemble many of the pictures we had seen on line.
