Tommy Thompson Park is a unique urban wilderness in Toronto owned by Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA). It is located on the Leslie Street Spit, close to downtown Toronto. The park is a great place to experience nature and the outdoors. It is widely considered one of the best places for bird-watching in the city, with more than 300 recorded species. It’s also a prime destination for wildlife viewing and fishing. From its origin as rubble and sand, Tommy Thompson Park has developed into a complex mosaic of habitats, which support a diverse community of flora and fauna species. In 2000, Tommy Thompson Park was declared a Globally Significant Important Bird Area by BirdLife International.
