Lots. Try the Marracuya, More Than Words. My personal favourites. There is another place good for lunch.... Soda la U. Try the special coconut risenbeans on Thursdays. For a nice mountain view, try the Turrialtico lodge. It has great views and good food.
From the west side of San José it can take between 2 to 2.5 hrs with normal traffic; add one hour if you plan to stop. Good places for breakfast and/or lunch!
