I think that the issue is having someone there to chat to as things come to mind. I accept it is difficult getting volunteers to be available every day of the week: especially as there are so many places to visit in London. You were very busy getting the lighting sorted out: it seemed that everyone I approached was a lighting engineer or some such! But I did give you a Very Good!
About how long do you think we should allow for this museum? I have read two of his books and am a big fan.

First of all, most Americans don't know who he is, good for you and your inquisitive mind. I must admit my wife know much more about Dr. Johnson than I did, but was glad to see the house. To answer your question, the house is four stories with a central staircase, about two rooms per floor. ( If nothing else, a good example of that period upper middle class townhouse). The rooms have some books under glass, (i.e. dictionary), period furniture, and some personal items of Dr. Johnson. Depending on how big a fan you are, it could take an hour or two for the enthusiast. A small souvenir shop at the enterance has books etc. about the Dr.. One of his favorite eateries, Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese, (off Fleet Street) is just down the alley (we ate there and enjoyed it) standing since 1667! His portrait and favorite chair are preserved there in the dining room. Hope this helps. God bless.
